Background processes

AI chats, AI reviews, exports and imports keep running when you move on. See their status, stop or resume them, and pick up the result from the dashboard.

Long-running tasks in Trace.Space run in the background, so you can carry on working, switch pages, or close the tab while they finish. The Agentic processes panel on the dashboard lists them with their status and lets you stop, resume, or open the result.

What runs in the background

  • Space Agent Chat - a reply from the AI chat. It keeps generating after you close the sidebar or navigate away.

  • Space Agent Reviewer - the AI reviewer working through the items in a review.

  • Export - a file export of a document, baseline, review, or saved filter to Word, Excel, or ReqIF.

  • Import - a document import that creates items.

Finding the list

Go to the dashboard and open the My feed tab. The Agentic processes panel is collapsed by default. Its header shows how many processes you have and highlights how many are processing and how many have failed. Click the chevron to expand the table.

The table has these columns:

  • Task name - the chat title, review name, imported item, or exported file.

  • Task type - Space Agent Chat, Space Agent Reviewer, Export, or Import.

  • Started - how long ago the task started.

  • Status - Processing, Stopped, Finished, or Failed.

The list refreshes every few seconds while anything is processing. Only your own processes are listed.

Stopping and resuming

The last column offers one action per row:

  • A Processing task shows a Stop button. Stopping a chat marks it as stopped; stopping a review pauses the AI reviewer.

  • A Stopped task shows a Resume button. The task continues from where it stopped.

  • A Finished task shows a link to the result: Open chat, View review, Download for an export, or View item for an import.

You can also stop and resume a chat from inside the chat sidebar with the stop button and the Resume link. See Working with AI.

How you are told when something finishes

  • Exports show a toast, Export in progress, when you start them. The file downloads by itself when it is ready and a second toast, Export ready, confirms it. If the export takes longer than a minute you get the message "Your export is still running. You can find it under Agentic processes on the dashboard when it is ready." and can download it from the panel later.

  • Chats show Finishing your reply in the background... while they run. The reply is waiting in the chat when you return, and the chat history shows a spinner next to chats that are still generating.

  • AI reviews show their progress on the review page while the reviewer works.

A task that stops with an error is marked Failed in the panel. For a chat, open it and click Retry.
