Notifications

Written by Janis Vavere

Trace.Space notifies you when something needs your attention. You get a notification when:

  • someone mentions you in a comment or in a reply to a comment

  • someone replies to one of your comments

  • you are invited to a review

  • you are assigned as a tester on a test run

By default each of these arrives both in the app and by email. Invitations to an organization are sent by email only.

The bell and the feed

Notifications live under the bell icon at the top of the left sidebar, next to search. A red badge on the bell shows how many are unread. When a new notification arrives while you are working, a small message pops up with a Show notifications link.

Click the bell to open the feed. Each entry shows who triggered it, what happened and when. Click an entry to jump straight to the item, review or test run it is about; if it belongs to another organization you are a member of, Trace.Space switches organization for you. Scroll down to load older notifications.

Read and unread

A notification is marked as read when you click it. To change one without opening it, hover over it and click ..., then Mark as read or Mark as unread. Delete removes it from the feed. While you have unread notifications, a tick icon (Mark all as read) appears in the feed's header.

Preferences

Click the cog icon (Notification preferences) in the feed's header. Under Receive notifications for, the table has one row per event and a switch for each channel, In-app and Email. Turn a switch off to stop that kind of notification on that channel; the change is saved immediately. Click Back to return to the feed.

Every notification email also contains a link that opens these preferences directly.
